These lenticularis clouds over Utah show the distant influence of the Sierra Nevada mountain chain on the atmospheres vertical wave structure. The Entrada sandstone in the foreground perfectly adapts to the shape of the clouds. The remote background shows the Uintah mountains that are snow covered year-round. This adds a very special zest to this landscape. Almost every climate and vegetation zone is represented in this fairly small state of Utah.
