Silent Gods
These rock monuments reveal a view into our planets landscape 200 millions of years ago. The red Navajo sandstone dating from the time of dinosaurs consists of sand from fossil dunes. During the Jurassic age this region of Utah was characterized by alternating phases of transgression and regression of a marginal sea. During these phases enormous sand dunes developed. Today water and wind erosion forms these bizarre sculptures out of the petrified dunes rock.
