Grand Canyon
The Colorado Plateau is located in the Four Corner district of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah at an elevation between 1500 and 3000 m and covers an area of 800 by 800 km. The large-scale uplift caused by isostatic processes occurred 16 million years ago together with the formation of the Rocky Mountains. The plateau mainly consists of alternating marine and continental sediments of Mesozoic age dating back to the time of dinosaurs.
