Fade Away
During flash flood events with extreme river runoff large trees can tumble down the cascades being then polished by the water. The bedrock reveals the secret of Terranes. The volcanic seafloor consists of three stratums: Heavy magmatic dykes at the bottom, pillow lava basalts in the contact zone with seawater and layers of sediments on top. With increasing age while spreading from the oceanic sea floor ridge, such massive plates forms into deep ocean basins. Mighty layers of sediment build up. Seldomly older than 200 million years this complex called Steinmann-trinity reaches the continental plate being subducted and remolten. This usually closes the ocean plate rock cycle. But rarely it can be attached to the continent plate, called Accretion. The attached oceanic plate is called terrane. This is how the continents grew in time. Usually hidden exotic stones from the depth of the earth are exposed in front of our feet – they are called Ophiolithes.
