Die blaue Stunde des Ozons
The blue hour of the ozone. The reward for standing the chilly temperatures of the early morning hours at nearly 4000 m are the unforgettable moments of the twilight on top of the world. Earths shade fades as the suns approaches the eastern horizon, horizontally lighting the thin stratospheric ozone layer resulting in these magic violet colors. The Monte Rosa mountain range of Switzerland including Lyskamm and Castor is submerged in this mystical light. Below several glaciers originating from separate cirques merge and continue down the valley by forming one of the Alps longest glacier, the Gornergletscher. Wide medial moraines mark where the glaciers have joined.
