A nocturnal bristleconepine forest belongs to one of the most outstanding places on our planet. These solitary standing twisted trees can reach an age of 5000 years. In contrast to their morbid appearance they are in the best of health and enjoy the nighttime view into deep space. These trees grow on the eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada. This mountain range separates the highlands of the Sierra Nevada from the lowlands of Death Valley.
